This exhibition brings together ceramics by Stephen Murfitt with paintings by Terry Beard. Both artists live and work in the Huntingdonshire Fens, which informs and inspires much of their work. Each has developed their practice over many years, evolving and refining their ideas. Terry and Stephen have exhibited with Gavagan Art for a number of years. 

I first exhibited Stephen’s raku ceramics in the early 1980s at the National Trust property: Gawthorpe Hall, Padiham Lancashire. In the 1990s, Stephen was again one of the exhibitors in an exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics at the Peter Scott Gallery, Lancaster University. – Mary Gavagan

‘My work is an intuitive response to the natural and built environment, evocative of landscape, water and woodland. I am particularly influenced by the Huntingdonshire Fens which surround my home and studio. This is an area of flat farmland intersected by drains and ditches, with areas of dense woodland.’ Terry Beard 2025
