Settle

Settle is a bustling market town in one of the most scenic areas of the Yorkshire Dales. It is well-known world-wide as the starting point of the Settle-Carlisle Railway and as a gateway to the Three Peaks of Penyghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. It is a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Parking

There are three large car parks in Settle close to the gallery. It is also possible

to park in Market Square if there is a parking space available. A parking disc can be collected from the gallery allowing parking for an hour.

New Gallery

In 2015 Gavagan Art moved to a new gallery at the front of the refurbished Town Hall in Settle.

In the last few years the Town Hall, a Grade II listed building dating from 1832, has been carefully refurbished, and now Gavagan Art is using the space to showcase exhibitions, as we have done in Settle since 2010.

Exhibitions include modern and contemporary art by nationally recognised and professional regional artists.
We look forward to welcoming you at our gallery in Settle.

______________

Established in April 2010, Gavagan Art has a new gallery at the Town Hall in Settle, North Yorkshire.

Mary Gavagan was Director of the University art gallery at Lancaster University for over 20 years, developing the gallery's collection and staging fine art and craft exhibitions. These showcased works by internationally recognised artists including Joan Miro, Albert Irvin OBE, David Hockney, Alan Davie, Sir Terry Frost, L. S. Lowry and Andy Goldsworthy.

Exhibitions at the gallery often featured work on loan from national collections including the Art Council, the British Museum and the Imperial War Museum. Having been shown at Lancaster, many of these exhibitions were then loaned to regional museums and galleries.
